This emailing system is used for pupils, parents and staff for the following purposes:
1) Questions related to Christianity
2) General advice and support
3) Counsel, these emails are strictly confidential and are only seen by the Chaplain (currently vacant. Click here if interested) and the Director (Miriam Whitehouse) and are in accordance with Child Protection.
Pupils are encouraged to ask parental permission before using this emailing system.
How much are lessons?
45 minute class: £5
1 hour class: £6
50 minute class: £6
50 minute class: £5 (students)
How is payment carried out?
Fees cards are issued from registration with your/your child’s name and classes wishing to attend along with your first payment. Payment is then placed into the school fees box in a labelled envelope, along with the fees card when attending first class. Fee cards are usually handed back on the last class before a holiday break, to then be returned with payment again on the first class after the holidays (see fees section)
I am new and would love to try a class, can I come along?
You are most welcome to come along to a class if you are new- we would love to meet you! Please telephone/ email Miriam Whitehouse aka ‘Miss M’ to book you a place. Coming along for the first time wouldn’t cost you anything so you can see if you enjoy the class. If you would like to come along each week then a welcome pack will be sent out to you and payment will commence as normal.
What do the pupils wear?
You can find details of our uniform when you click on each of our dance genres on the website home page. If you are new and trying out a class then wearing comfortable clothing and footwear or bare feet is fine.
Is there a ruling on hair and jewellery?
Pupils should have their hair tied up for class. Ballet/ Contemporary pupils can have their hair in a bun. No jewellery is to be worn in class.
What do they bring to class?
Pupils need to have relevant uniform and dance footwear. It is also recommended that they have water with them as they can get quite hot during energetic routines. Parents are also welcome to bring a snack for their child after class.
How many pupils are there in one class?
Class size will vary but the absolute maximum in one class is 20.
Are teachers qualified and disclosed?
All teachers are qualified and disclosed, can be shown if requested.
Can parents watch in class?
Parents are asked to wait outside during class as pupils can often find an audience distracting. For nursery pupils parents can attend the first couple of lessons if required, but should aim to allow their child to attend class independently.
Does Generation Edinburgh have shows?
Generation Edinburgh aims to hold an annual Sponsor Show in recognition of the hard work put in by the pupils and also to thank our sponsors, parents, friends and family for their support.

Do you have to be a Christian to join?
Absolutely not! This school is open to everyone who would love to learn a new skill in dance and/ or make a difference in their community.
Why do you have a Chaplain?
Having a Chaplain is an important aspect to the school. The Chaplain is there as extra encouragement for the pupils and parents, and also if anyone would like prayer she would love to pray with you. Chaplaincy is optional but is open to all pupils and parents.
